Jelle Vastershaeghe [°1984, DEINZE BE] is a Belgian multifaceted all-round pianist, arranger & teacher.
Studying classical piano with Daan Vandewalle and Vitaly Samoshko, Jelle is is a highly skilled performer with great stylistic variety and wellpraised improvising gifts. In addition, he is an arranger and orchestrator, focusing on string orchestra and pop ensemble.
Together with violinist Laci Olah, Jelle founded the all-round orchestra Serenade. The original project, Cinema Serenade, focused on film music and spawned a ballroom evening at the Sheraton Hotel, Brussels BE, as well as the new concept Laci & Jelle in Concert. Its succesfull première, featuring soprano Nadine Heyndrickx, redefined conventional concert experience perceptions.
Jelle collaborates in various theatrical settings. He participated in the Pascale Platel productions C'est Moi le Monstre and KipKappen (Bar Bobard). Both productions toured extensively in Belgium, the Netherlands and France. With Laci Olah he co-wrote, arranged and performed the music for the Eddy Vereycken production Bosaardbeitjes with Anne Van Opstal and Liss Walravens.
Jelle regularly joined Carlos Alleene's literary programmes Alleene bij Corman, Hardgekookt and Literair Matinée for Theater aan Zee, Ostend BE, joining on stage such diverse personalities as Geert Tavernier, Reinout Verbeke, David Troch, Ann De Craemer, Marc Reugebrinck and Kris Van Steenberge. For TAZ#2014, Jelle accompagnied Willem Vermandere in a hommage to film maker Raoul Servais.
